Cee’s Which Way Challenge #34: In Franschoek

Delighted at being selected as a Featured Blogger with this entry in last week’s challenge!

There exists a beautiful valley nestled in the mountains of the Cape Vineyards. The idyllic-like appearance of the Franschoek Valley reminds me of The Shire in Lord of the Rings.

The town of Franschoek is influenced by French culture, brought to the Cape by the French Huguenots from the 1600s onwards.

It’s picturesque main road is dotted with French bistros and bakeries and the vineyards situated on the slopes of the mountains have French names like Dieu Donne. Which is where we stopped for wine tasting and lunch at its fancy restaurant, the kind of restaurant that has organic springbok and ostrich on its menu. The stone stairs in the photo lead to the restaurant and are flanked by a modern water feature. As one can see, the views are beautiful.
