I have a fair amount of socks without a mate. They go into the washing machine together but they come out alone. What was once a good match is now not so much. And what does this have to do with the photo below? Nothing…absolutely nothing…

I think the washing machine is actually a sock-eating robot and it sometimes burps and spits out threads of socks it’s long digested.
