Monday issues

BlueJeans (an alternative to Zoom) was up and down today – the breakout rooms kept crashing and my trainees had to reconnect many times. Couple that with poor internet connectivity for some of them and it made for an interesting (not!) training day.

Unfortunately, this client’s IT department doesn’t allow the use of Zoom, and Microsoft Teams doesn’t give me enough control of the training environment. So BlueJeans was the most viable alternative – I sent them a couple of pieces of feedback and I’m holding thumbs that they fix whatever glitch was causing the issues today. I’ve used this app before and it worked just fine.

I’m grateful for my co-worker, R, who helped moderate the meeting. She was a lifesaver. She bit her nails down to the quick (almost) with handling all the technical issues and other logistical tasks associated with the training.

Zoom apparently had a similar problem today, also with the break out rooms … hmmm … both apps with the same issue on the same day …

I dubbed it Monday issues.

Weekend Coffee Share: The Catch Up Edition

Well hello there, and come on into this week’s Weekend Coffee Share hosted by Natalie The Explorer. To drink, there is espresso, cappuccino, latte, iced coffee and a host of teas.

A missed date

You may be wondering why I missed our coffee date last week. I did some load shedding complaining on Monday – in a nutshell after our scheduled load shedding slot (warning: don’t say this sentence aloud when hyper on coffee or wine) the neighbourhood experienced a fault in the electrical supply. So … no power for most of the weekend. With limited battery capacity, I prioritised the freezer and made the best use of my time by giving the kitchen a top to bottom clean.

We had a similar fault at about the same time last year. Then, the power was off for 4 days. I was away on business in Mauritius so Chè had to contend with it all on his own. He was down to charging his cell phone in the car with the engine running to keep in touch with me. And we almost lost the contents of the fridge and freezer. Luckily, so it seems, we have a quality appliance that kept the temperature cool enough.

Blogging activity

On the work front, I wasn’t too busy; things are still powering up. I hope this year will improve so that my salary can go back up to 100%.

On Tuesday I did a writing update, courtesy of Grammarly. I use its free version in spite of many invitations to pay for it to unlock more features 🙂 .  Do you use Grammarly? What do you think of it?

I broke my writing streak last weekend so I imagine that WordPress must be very disappointed with me.

Anywhooo! Enough of that. How was your week? Did you have a good one?
