Lalaphansi is a guest lodge in Umdloti beach close to Durban. It is a Zulu word which means to ‘lie-down’. It is number 22 on the road facing the beach. I remember family holidays to Durban which always had to include one day spent at Umdloti beach. It is a popular beach with parents with young kids because it has a shallow tidal pool. Che has similar memories of his family holidays to Durban. As adults, this is still our favourite place to visit. We have never stayed at Lalaphansi guest lodge so this is not a post endorsing it in any way. Perhaps next time we’ll book in there, and I’ll be sure to tell you about it here.
