Weekend Coffee Share: Finally I Have A Personal Kanban System Going

If we were having coffee, I’d invite you to put Redbull in your coffee so that you can also see noises just like the bushbaby below. I do recommend water though… Caffeine has been my friend this past week but I’ve stayed away from the Redbull else it would’ve been more than noises that I would’ve seen!

The week was eventful. It started off with an amazing Agile Africa 2015 conference, a workshop on Wednesday and the rest of the week finishing off the current coaching engagement. It was a tiring week and all I wanted to do was sleep. I slept in yesterday and today – no alarm clocks, just waking up naturally.

The weather has been amazing. I’m wearing short sleeves and sandals already. Roll on Summer, please come in and stay for as long as you like. You are very welcome!

I managed to blog most days except for Thursday and Friday. I started a personal Kanban board for stuff to do at home (and life in general like vacation planning, birthday parties and blogging). Che liked the idea so he’s now got one for his business. The plan is to do a daily stand-up meeting as we have breakfast, before leaving for work. Let’s see how that works out.

Visualising the work to be done, and limiting the tasks I do will hopefully allow me to focus on one thing at a time and get a lot more done. It had better work out because Kanban is part of what I coach on ;-).  The mantra of Kanban is “Stop starting start finishing.”

You know when you start all these hundreds of things at the same time and by the end of the day or week you haven’t finished any of them? Happens to me all the time! Click through the Slideshare below and I hope that you’ll adopt Kanban in your life too (if you aren’t already using it).

Today we stocked up on pool cleaning materials, it’s almost swimming season.

That’s it for today. The sun is dropping below the horizon and tomorrow is a work day. Time to prepare for the week. Hope  you have an awesome week ahead!

  1. I hope that Kanban system works for both of you. I had not heard of it before this. It sounds interesting and helpful!

Pool season! I’m not a swimmer. That’s one thing I hope to learn one day…bucket list! Our weather here in Oregon is just now beginning to turn Autumn-ish. I’m afraid we still have some summer days ahead of us but we’ve had wind and rain for the last three days so that’s good. It is so needed here! Have a super week!
