…well…almost! But it was no less exciting than swinging tree to tree Tarzan-style I would imagine.
This week I did the canopy tours in the Magaliesberg with a group of people who are very important to me. And no, I am not saying this because they might be reading this post 🙂 – they are – you know who you are!
This canopy tour is operated by Magaliesberg Canopy Tours. And what a lot of fun it was! The guides were experienced and ensured we were safe at all times. They are also knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the region. We saw some kudu on the way to the first platform. The Magaliesberg mountain range is one of the oldest in the world – some 2,400 million years old. There are some really old fig trees. These, and other flora are well sign-posted so this experience is also about the ecology of the area.
It wasn’t sufficiently hair-raising for me, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Not enough to get the adrenalin pumping, so I guess I will have to do all the other canopy tours, the higher the better. It didn’t take too long before one person and then the next tried the Tarzan yell while ziplining across the gorge. Me too! I also tried it – a very out of tune one – LOL!
