Graceful

The WordPress weekly photo challenge this week is all about being graceful, “whether it is a person, a building, or an abstract shape…something that exists harmoniously with its surroundings”.

I found the pic below in my archives. I do so love the cape dutch architectural style characterised by graceful gables, a central entrance with wings running to either side. They are H-shaped, white washed with a thatched roof. It has roots in German and Dutch styles and came to South Africa with these settlers. Many of the houses built in this style are found in the Cape Winelands once such example is the house in the photo below. Its popularity is evident in its replication in modern housing developments.

    1. Thanks Tina. I wish I had more pics of architecture. I love the art deco style too and there are many such buildings in Johannesburg. I must get out and photograph them.
